Third annual
Tour de Cygnet
is coming

Sunday, February 18, 2018

Time to get the lycra out – or just the good old pedal-pushers – for whether you’re an athlete or just a weekend pedaller, the cycling season is upon us.

And get out the diary, too: mark off Sunday, February 18, 2018 for the third Tour de Cygnet –a truly enjoyable event for every member of the family.

It’s not a race – it’s not a competition – but it is a challenge:  and someone will win a $1,500 Specialized bike from Bike Ride, Hobart.

You only have to enter to have a chance to win the bike and a bunch of other prizes.

The third Tour de Cygnet has three routes for every level of experience.

There’s the ENDURANCE route for those with the puff – a 70km ride along the beautiful Channel Highway via Verona Sands, Gordon, Kettering and then back via Oyster Cove Hill … that takes you up the challenging Nichols Rivulet Road and back into Cygnet.

There’s the FAMILY ride – this year offering 20km from Cygnet to the bottom of Oyster Cove Hill or for those with a greater challenge in mind, up to the top of the hill and back again, a total of 28km.

And for younger rides, there’s a CHILD-SAFE ride of 8km from Cygnet along the tranquil back route, Slab Road and return.

As with every Tour de Cygnet there will be marshals at all intersections and lead- and follow-vehicles.

One big change this year is that any profits from the Tour de Cygnet will be directed to Give Me Five for Kids which will spend the funds on amenities for the paediatrics wing of the Royal Hobart Hospital.

FOR NON-RIDERS:
Cygnet is a lovely township in a beautiful location and Sunday, February 18, is market day so there’ll be plenty to see, do and enjoy if you’re not a rider.

The village has plenty of cafes, parks and galleries plus some delightful walks, too. Take a stroll from the village centre to the sailing club – a good, safe footpath with wonderful views and wildlife to spot.

Check out Burtons Reserve with its wildlife sanctuary.
