About Cygnet

Cygnet is located 55 km south west of Hobart and is at the head of Port Cygnet- an inlet of the Huon River. With a population of about 1000 and an increasingly residential surrounding area it’s a busy little town with many attractions for both residents and visitors. The town has a comprehensive range of  schools, shops and other services including:

  • Commonwealth and Bendigo banks, a Post Office and ATMs
  • Police and Fire stations
  • three cafe/restaurants
  • two supermarkets
  • two hotels/pubs/bottle shops
  • one RSL club

  • three take away food shops
  • organic grocer
  • a couple of real estate agents
  • various clothing, craft and special interest stores
  • Catholic, Anglican, Australian Christian and Uniting churches
  • couple of backpacker hostels, a camping ground and RV facilities
  • Public golf course, football oval, tennis courts, bowling greens
  • Sailing club with slipway facilities
